Extra Vocabulary you might see........
Tangible Expression To be copywrited, a creative work must be a tangible expression. That means a work must be recorded so that it is on paper, canvas, disk, or computer hard drive. This means that anything that is NOT recorded, (a jazz solo at a live performance, for instance) is not protected by copyright.
Fair Use Fair Use is a situation where people can use or copy a copyrighted work without permission.
Derivative Work A derivative work is an adaptation of your work where you change it or modify it in some way. For example, if you had created a song and recorded it, you could make a music video of that song as a derivative work.
Copyright Infringement Anyone who uses a copyrighted work without the owner's permission has committed copyright infringement. If a lawsuit is brought against the infringer, they will have to pay the copyright owner the money they made from using the copyrighted work.
